When most people think of wood in home design, they picture hardwood floors, cabinetry, or furniture. This month’s inspiration takes that natural warmth in a different direction by incorporating wood-look materials into the bathroom to create a relaxing, spa-inspired retreat.
One of the biggest trends in bathroom design is creating spaces that feel less like utilitarian rooms and more like personal wellness retreats. Drawing inspiration from luxury spas and Scandinavian saunas, designers are increasingly using wood tones to introduce warmth, texture, and a connection to nature.
For this concept, we paired Bedrosians Refined wood-look porcelain tile in the color Nut with Bedrosians Waterbrook Jumbo Sliced Pebbles in Super Black for the shower floor. The combination creates visual contrast while maintaining an organic, natural feel. The wood-look tile delivers the warmth and character of real wood while offering the durability and moisture resistance required in a shower environment.
The cabinetry features NorthPoint’s Slate finish, a rich dark gray stained door style that grounds the design and complements the darker tones found in the pebble shower floor. For the bathroom flooring, we selected MSI’s Kenzzi Paloma porcelain tile. Its subtle pattern introduces personality without competing with the other materials in the room.
Color also plays an important role in creating a calming atmosphere. Dunn-Edwards Lake Reflection, a soothing teal blue, provides a gentle pop of color while maintaining the peaceful, restorative feel of the space. The result is a palette that feels fresh, natural, and timeless.
To complete the design, we selected a Moen Eco-Performance handheld showerhead. With multiple spray functions and water-saving technology, it delivers comfort and flexibility while helping conserve water.
The beauty of this design is its balance. Warm wood tones, natural textures, calming colors, and modern performance features work together to create a bathroom that feels like a daily escape. It’s proof that wood-inspired design doesn’t have to stop at the kitchen or living room. It can transform the bathroom into one of the most inviting spaces in the home.
