A Timeless Kitchen and Dining Room Remodel in Santa Clarita

Challenge:

Over the course of 30 years, several additions had given these homeowners the space for the large chef’s kitchen they had always envisioned. The challenge was to bring those areas together with a layout that felt intentional, improved the kitchen’s workflow and created a cohesive connection  with the formal dining room. They also wanted to reclaim an underused breakfast nook, add much-needed pantry storage and create bright, airy spaces with a timeless style.

Design:

The redesigned kitchen centers around an expanded island, where relocating the sink created generous preparation space and improved the room’s overall function. The coffee station was moved from between the refrigerator and freezer to a previously unused area just beyond the kitchen, making room for pantry cabinetry while creating a dedicated and beautifully organized coffee bar.

White raised-panel cabinetry, Taj Mahal quartzite countertops and warm satin bronze finishes establish a consistent look throughout the kitchen and dining room. In the dining room, new built-in cabinetry provides additional storage and display space beneath the home’s distinctive Tudor-style beveled diamond glass windows. A recessed nook was also transformed with coordinating cabinetry, a quartzite surface and floating glass shelves supported by satin bronze brackets.

Build:

Custom real-wood ceiling beams bring warmth and architectural character to the bright kitchen. Each beam was distressed freehand with a router to create the appearance of deep grain, then hand-stained with multiple colors for added depth and authenticity.

Lighting was carefully layered throughout the room, with recessed fixtures positioned between the beams, pendants above the island, wall sconces along the back kitchen wall and interior lighting in the glass-front cabinets. Thoughtful storage features, including pullout spice racks, tray storage and deep drawers, completed a kitchen designed as carefully for cooking as it was for gathering.

The result is an elegant, welcoming kitchen and dining room that feel naturally connected while giving the homeowners the beauty, storage and professional-grade function they had envisioned for years.
