Relocating from the breezy shores of San Diego to the rugged terrain of the High Desert, our homeowner wanted a change of scenery and lifestyle without sacrificing her coastal aesthetic. Moving closer to family and leaving behind the burden of maintaining a large home with pool, a mobile home was the housing purchase of choice. Dark and dreary with only 1,152 sq. ft. to work with, this more than 20-year-old home needed a dramatic transformation in its kitchen, laundry area, and primary bathroom to become the homeowner’s beachy dream space.
We designed a palette of blue and white to open the space, make it bright and cheery, and create a beach-like feel. The bathtub was slated for removal in the primary bath to allow for a large walk-in shower. New appliances, attractive tile, and contemporary cabinetry were planned to update the look and feel of the kitchen.
In the kitchen, white finish cabinetry complimented Myst countertops and an 18” blue shimmer arabesque glass tile splash. Bronze knob hardware and pendant fixtures as additional lighting were installed to accent the space. Supply chain issues threatened the availability of receiving appliances, but creative sourcing made everything time out correctly. In the primary bathroom a BestBath shower with tile to complement the kitchen aesthetic, new vanity and mirror were added.
In the words of our homeowner, “From the first day through two months of construction, I loved the craftsmen on the project. They really felt like family by that final day. Lenton Company caught my beachy vision and transformed my cozy space to reflect my love for the ocean.”
