The homeowners faced a significant challenge with their existing kitchen. The space was dark, dominated by dark cabinets and an overwhelming amount of granite. They envisioned transforming their dreary kitchen into a modern farmhouse style, which required a complete overhaul of both aesthetics and functionality. Additionally, they wanted to upgrade their existing dry bar into something special and create an eat-in kitchen that could comfortably accommodate their young family.
The design phase of this project marked a pioneering moment, as it was one of the first times the design team incorporated the now-trendy gold finishes. The bold use of color was another standout feature, with green cabinets taking the spotlight instead of the traditional white or wood options. This design choice quickly became one of the most saved projects on Houzz. European Quartz Arcadia was selected for the countertops due to its durability and elegant appearance. For the cabinet hardware, the team chose Liberty Hardware in Champagne Bronze, adding a touch of luxury. The backsplash featured Marazzi D-Segni, Stella Blend, providing a stylish and cohesive look. Signature Hardware supplied the sink, chosen for its functionality and farmhouse design, while the faucet and sink accessories from Delta in Champagne Bronze complemented the overall aesthetic. To enhance the lighting and add a decorative element, Feiss Matrimonio pendant lights were planned.
The build phase involved a strategic mix of reusing and repurposing existing materials along with incorporating new elements to achieve the desired transformation. Many of the existing cabinets were reused and repainted, giving them a fresh, modern look. Additionally, new cabinets were added, including a dedicated coffee/microwave cabinet. To create a more open and airier feel, some of the cabinets along the range wall were removed. A completely new kitchen island was installed, featuring a Walnut butcher block top. The back side of the island was designed with a permanent bench for the dining table, adding functionality and charm to the space. The homeowner built the table himself, adding a personal and unique touch to the kitchen. The result was a stunning modern farmhouse kitchen that became bright, welcoming, and perfect for any family, combining both style and functionality.
In the words of our homeowners, “Honestly, working with Lenton Company was so easy. From initial discussions about what we wanted through the design process to execution, we felt supported and heard. We wanted a functional kitchen with loads of storage, and that’s exactly what we got. When we sold our home, we got lots of positive feedback on the kitchen from potential buyers. We are going to remodel our kitchen here in Virginia and would love to work with Lenton Company again if we could.”
