A Tale of Two Bathrooms in Lancaster

Project Overview

Challenge:

When tasked with remodeling two bathrooms, the team approached the project with a focus on functionality, comfort, and style. The hall bath needed to better accommodate guests and family members, while the primary bathroom called for a complete transformation to align with the homeowners’ daily routines. A key challenge was phasing the renovation to ensure the homeowners always had access to a working bathroom throughout the process.

Design:

The hall bath retained its existing layout, with fresh finishes selected to modernize the space. New tile, a bathtub, countertops, sinks, mirrors, and updated lighting were chosen to create a welcoming environment. In the primary bathroom, the design involved a complete reconfiguration. A small, enclosed shower behind the entry door was eliminated, making way for custom cabinetry to expand storage. The underutilized tub was replaced with a spacious, walk-in shower featuring wood grain porcelain tiles, creating a warm, spa-like retreat. A dual vanity with a central tower was designed to separate the space, incorporating a built-in niche for a small radio—an intentional detail to enhance the homeowner’s morning NPR routine. Light, wood-grain porcelain flooring was selected to contrast with the darker cabinetry and shower walls, bringing warmth and visual balance to the room.

Build:

The hall bath update began with refinishing the existing cabinetry, preserving its quality while giving it a fresh, modern appearance. New countertops, sinks, mirrors, and lighting brightened the space, while the new tub and tile surround elevated both durability and style. Once complete, attention shifted to the primary bath. Stripped to the studs, the room was rebuilt to maximize both space and aesthetics. The recessed ceiling panels were removed, allowing for a sleek, updated profile with improved lighting. The spacious walk-in shower became the focal point, while custom cabinetry provided ample storage. The vanity tower was fitted with the homeowner’s personalized radio nook, and a new pocket door improved accessibility while enhancing the room’s flow.

Reveal:

In the homeowner’s words, “I trust Rob and his team completely. They show up as promised, communicate clearly, and deliver quality craftsmanship—no shortcuts, no quick fixes. This remodel was just as seamless as our previous experience with Lenton. If a challenge arose, it was addressed quickly and transparently. Costs stay as quoted unless we request a change, which gives us peace of mind. I highly recommend Lenton for any remodeling project, and we look forward to working with them again on our upcoming kitchen renovation.”
